Hello all! I am a poet, writer, Gothic Fusion dancer, artistic type, and fur mom to my menagerie. I live near Manhattan, Kansas (the Little Apple) and my books are set here in my home state. My characters tend to be adults. Not models. Not teenagers. My characters just happen to be paranormal. Welcome & hello!
This has been a busy summer. I’ve spent it reviewing books, beta reading, and writing. I was invited to the Wichita Public Library for the 2nd Annual Local Author day. Sold some books, donated a copy of “Paranormal Bites” to the WPL, visited a niece and her new hubby, and had a fantastic time.
The guys really seemed to enjoy it. Fast forward to last night. They interviewed me for a podcast about “Flip Side” and asked me a few questions about “Night Blind”. It was my first podcast and I had a wonderful time! I will post a link to it as soon as it’s out-Friday the 29th of September 2017 is the projected date.
More good news! “Flip Side” is scheduled for release November 2017! I will have a release podcast for it before the book comes out. I’m hoping to have at least one release party for it somewhere. I will let everyone know as soon as I have any firm details.
I want to thank you all for hanging in there with me through all of this. I wouldn’t still be doing this if it wasn’t for all of my readers. THANK YOU!!!
Having the time of my life at ConQuesT. I missed my 30th high school reunion. Sad to say, I’ve seen more friends here in the first hours than probably I would at the reunion.
There will be room parties after panels and readings. Loving the panels!
Gotta go! Next panel is about to start!
I was invited to the KLA Conference by an awesome Miranda Ericsson-Kendall. I am meeting so many neat folks today. Seeing some familiar faces and meeting lots of new friends.
I had a rather frustrating start to the day. I met with the amazing Jo Mach (CHECK OUT HER CHILDREN’S BOOKS) and rode to the KLA with her. I was on time with everything I needed. We got to the hotel, and my keys were missing?! Yes, MISSING!
One panic attack later (Sheila Dalrymple being supportive along with Jo) , one phone call, the support of friends, and I found out I left my keys on the seat of my truck when I parked!! Amazing Alie saved the day, and Jo is my rock of support today. I will be fine when I get home.
Just met Richard Brookman, JR of COMICPOP LIBRARY (comicpoplibrary.com). You’ve got to check these guys out! They have a podcast and review books, comics, and so much more!! Stay tuned because I may be doing a podcast with them sometime in the coming year.
This afternoon is filled with some amazing poetry and bright poets. This is a treat for the ears.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here. Today has been humbling, filled with love, and the support of friends. Today has been richer than I could have ever guessed!
What an amazing day!! People, characters, and otherworldlies eerywhere! His is a wonderful event filled with readers, cosplayers, anime fans, and authors alike!!
Dr.Who, Negron, Ash vs Evil Dead, Poison Ivy ,Captain America, Star Wars, Star trek and others. Wall to wall fans, cosplayers, colletors, and authors. I attended last year as a fan and this year as an exibitor.
I you are not here or are plannin on coming, YOU MISSED OUT!!
Just a bit of news. This year I was invited to be a part of the Little Apple Comic Expo as an artist! That’s right! The awesome folks asked me to come up there with my books! I will be sharing my table with a sci-fi author who keeps the the science in science fiction, Dennis E. Smirl.
Here is the scoop. LACE is in Manhattan, Kansas at the K-State student Union on March 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m..littleappleexpo.com
It will be my first big expo as a writer. I am so excited! There will be panels, cosplay, comics, writers, artists, and so much MORE! This will be an amaing day!
Hopefully, you will come by the booth and check us out! See you there!
I see I have a bunch of new followers. THANK YOU!! All of you have allowed me to be where I am today! I will have to step up my game and post more!
I have been busy writing lately. My next book, Flip Side, is with my amazing pro editor. She is probably pulling out her hair at this draft. There are several new characters who are being introduced in this book as well as the continuing story of Isys, Justus, Twitch, Psych, Luther, and the very evil Roman and Chianti.
I am hard at work on at least two more books. I am unsure which one I will finish first, but I can promise Flip Side will be out within the next few months. Or, by the end of the year at the latest.
Thanks for hanging in there with me as I slowly get each draft done.
Sorry I have been absent. I have been busy with getting the next book ready for my awesome editor. Book 2 in the Kansas Vampire Chronicles is being reviewed now. (I am aware that Isys has posted more this year than I have.)
I do hope you all survived the hoidays and the severe weather of the last week unscathed. I was relieved things were mild. I am also grateful for the rain we recieved. We needed the moisture.
I am working on Book 3 and another two drafts. When I am blocked, I simply move to another WIP. Not very exciting, but it works most of the time. Speaking of which, I need to get back to work.
May your new year be shiny and much kinder to you than the last!
Well, I didn’t finish my NaNoWriMo novel, but I did finish the first of my rewrites on “Flip Side”. While I was still mulling over the defeat of my 30 day writing binge, a friend suggested I pop into a little bookstore in Emporia. I was not prepared.
Ellen Plumb’s City Bookstore is that and so much more. The ladies have filled the cozy and sensible little space with books, jewelry, and more! They even have a section just for local Kansas authors! I applied and was accepted.
Now, what I need for all of you to do is GO SEE THEM and SHOP! The store is filled with quality, whether it be books or jewelry, or what other quality work they may have found and are showcasing. They are at 1101 Commercial Street, in Emporia, up near the college. It is more than worth the trip!
This weekend is the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library’s yearly event- Great Writers, Right Here. There will be around 50 different authors, from all genres, gathered there to meet and greet. This event is FREE to the public. You can talk to the authors, get signed books, and maybe your favorite writer will be one of the lucky ones to do a live reading! R.L. Naquin, Kevin Wohler, Deborah Dalton, Dennis Smirl, Aimee Gross, Sheila Dalrymple, Annette Billings, and others will be there. All genres are represented. I can guarantee you will find something to either give as a gift or as a gift for yourself. It’s at the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library at 1515 SW 10th Street, Topeka, Kansas, from 1-4 p.m.. Stop by and see us!
I need to get a few business cards printed up before the weekend, and I need to go throw another log on the fire. The weather here is very Christmas-like and I am still trying to get into the mood. I do hope all of you had a good Thanksgiving and I wish you an even better Holiday Season!
For those of you who don’t know what I’m referring to, November is National Novel Writing Month. It is a challenge for anyone inclined to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.
It is for me, a personal time to step up my word counts. On the nanowrimo.org site, there are aids to help you. Word counts, writing buddies, sprints, messages from other writers and more are available for free to help you keep up your writing momentum.
I have done NaNoWriMo several times. Not all of my novels are available because I haven’t edited the NaNo ones yet from years past. I am currently doing the challenge this year and am on schedule so far.
I encourage anyone to check out their site. They have Camp NaNo in the summer if this time of year is too busy for you.
I guess my message is- if you want to write, TRY IT! DO IT! This last week has proven we need more books, more kindness, and more authors!
I am fortunate to have many author friends. I’ve become acquainted with a fantastic lady who’s had a serious run of bad luck. She’s an amazing graphic artist, awesome writer, and hard worker. I share her sales and specials because she would rather work to keep her family fed and together.
Anyway, she has given me something very special. She’s giving me permission to REVEAL her new cover! She has a book coming out! But enough lead-in.
Two soldiers, former lovers, each think they are saving the other from a South American drug cartel, all the while rehashing their broken relationship.
Green Beret Shane Cullen has been undercover for the DEA with a South American drug cartel. Eighteen months into his assignment, and unbeknownst to Shane, the cartel’s number two man is captured by the U.S. Marshals and starts to talk. Shane’s mission becomes endangered. His Special Forces commander calls in a favor and pulls in Shane’s former lover and teammate Elliott Hutchens for an extraction.
Elliott hasn’t seen Shane in almost two years, since his lover walked out on him. But Shane’s in trouble and doesn’t know it, so Elliott can’t refuse the mission. Getting himself captured by the cartel in order to force Shane to rescue him is the easy part. The hard part comes when Shane discovers he’s the real extraction, not Elliott. Shane’s bad temper ended their relationship once before. Will it get in the way again or can these two soldiers work through their issues and find their way to a happy ever after?
